Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman, CDA inspected the construction work of Sohan and Khana Interchanges Islamabad: July 17, 2017
Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Sheikh Anser Aziz has visited the Signal Free Corridor, Islamabad Expressway and inspected the ongoing construction work on Sohan and Khanapul Interchanges here on Monday.
On this occasion, Member Engineering, Asad Kiyani, Director General Works and other senior officers were also present.
Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz was apprised that after the completion of Karal Chow Interchange, construction work on Sohan and Khanapul Interchange has been started during January this year. The estimated cost of the both the projects is Rs.2.00 billion, which would be completed during the month of November this year. However, Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz said that the project of Signal Free Corridor is of immense importance, which would help improve the traffic flow, therefore, he urged the Engineering Wing to complete the projects before the stipulated time. He further directed the Engineering Wing to complete phase-wise construction work on Sohan Interchange by the end of August instead of November this year, adding that in the next phase, construction work on Khanapul Interchange could also be completed before the given time. He also directed the concerned formation to take full advantage of the monsoon season and plant grass and different species of plants and trees at those spots where construction work is completed. Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz asked the concerned formations proper landscaping and shifting of service line within the range of construction work. To protect the roads from heavy rains, he directed for construction proper drainage system.
Later, the Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz visited Karal Chowk Interchange where he inspected tree plantation and green lawns. He expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow progress on landscaping work and non-availability of alignment and lights on poles by the Streetlights Division and urged the concerned formations for proper alignment of poles and installation of bulbs. He directed for plantation of trees that does not cause any problem to the traffic at Karal Chowk Interchange.
